Life in forest.

I am always dreaming spending last days of my life in forest by doing farming. Fortunately I am moving to forest at the age of 23 only.

My birthplace (55km from Bangalore) is also like forest but greenery is very less because of lack of rain. From childhood I always wanted to become a farmer but my parents forced me to study and get steady job. We are doing rain based farming and success rate of bore well is very low. In our place, rain is most uncertain so our lives. So I studied engineering but I  wanted to stay near river and dense forest like Western Ghats in Karnataka(i.e. rainy place)..

At the age of 23, I moving to place famous for water falls and siddi people Yellapura. This place is full of surprises for me. This is complete forest area. It belongs to my favorite Malenady (most rainy place in Karnataka). Here, Houses in village are situated very far from each other house not like in any other village. People's are very daring because school going Kid has to travel 3 to 4km in forest alone. Fortunately robbery is very less in this place. Most of the people are educated and many of them staying in abroad. You can see greenery ever where. What I liked most is Small River near to my place. This river has two bridges, one simple bridge by using Areca Nut tree and another concrete bridge to stop the flowing water. This small river is surrounded by paddy fields and Archesia trees. It looks very beautiful.

In my last job i traveled whole Karnataka and parts south India. I observed for every 100km, tradition, culture, language and food changes. Yallapura is very near to coastal places so people eat fish more than chicken. Chicken and mutton are rarely available in hotel. Even though people speak Kannada (i.e. my mother tongue) dialect is slightly different from ours. In Bangalore, traditional marriage function will takes two days. Here marriage is one day function with very less dowry and less show off. People's are mad about “YAKSHAGANA” (i.e. drama). People financial condition is good as you know they are educated and expense is very less.

Even though I love forest, I am scared to walk alone in these forests because of snakes. Yes Snakes are the only thing which I hate about western ghats.
